MY EXPERIENCE USING AI FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES
Adding artificial intelligence (AI) to my academic life has changed the way I learn and do things. As a student managing the complicated world of modern education, AI tools have helped me learn, do research, and write better. This article talks about my experience with AI, including the good or bad things about it and what I've learnt about using it most effectively for academic purposes.
Applications like ChatGPT and Grammarly were the first places I came across AI in academics. These tools were like having virtual helpers that helped me come up with ideas, fix my grammar, and make my essays more organised. AI gave me access to a huge amount of information and often helped me understand things I was having trouble with. For example, when I was researching statistical analysis or historical events, AI-assisted summaries and explanations saved me hours of work by breaking down complicated information into forms that were easy to understand.
Besides that, AI-powered databases like Google Scholar, which have advanced search algorithms, helped me find exact academic pieces that were related to my research. AI tools made my work a lot easier and faster, and they made learning new things less scary.
One of the best things about using AI was that it helped me get better at writing. Using tools like grammar checkers and content analysers helped me find mistakes and make my writing clearer and more logical. For example, when I was writing a term paper on environmental ethics, AI pointed out places where my arguments were too general, which made me want to do more research.
It's interesting that AI also encouraged invention. During brainstorming sessions, it gave me new ideas or questions that made me question what I thought I knew. This collaborative process helped me generate fresh ideas and approach assignments with originality.
Even though AI has benefits, my experience with it was not always easy. One big problem was the urge to depend too much on content made by AI. At first, I would copy AI answers word-for-word, which could hurt my ability to think critically and be creative. Being aware of this, I worked hard to use AI as a guide instead of a crutch.
The moral issues that came up when using AI were also a big problem. A lot of schools think that cheating with AI tools is academic dishonesty. For instance, putting too much faith in AI to write essays or in tools that check for plagiarism could lead to violations of academic ethics. This taught me how important it is to be honest about AI's role in my work and make sure that its use added to my academic work instead of taking it over.
Using AI for schoolwork has taught me a lot of useful things. First, AI is a tool, not a solution for smart people. It works best when used with personal understanding and critical thinking. Second, it is very important to follow social standards when using AI in academics purposes. The integrity of my work is protected by openness and proper crediting.
I want to learn more advanced ways to use AI in the future, like how to use it for coding, data analysis, and even simulating tests. As technology changes, I hope to be able to adapt and use AI in my learning, making the most of its potential while still being aware of the social issues that come with its use.
My experience with AI in academics has been a learning curve full of obstacles and chances to grow. Learning faster, writing better, and thinking more critically are all things that it has helped me do. Even though AI has changed the way I teach, it has also made me realize how important human creativity and morality are. As I learn more about what AI can do, I'm excited about how it will change the way people learn and create information in the future.
